100 Thieves Valorant pro Hiko had a lot to say about Riot’s poor handling of the NA LCQ and the way Australia got screwed over.
The NA LCQ for Valorant Champs was a disaster from jump, with a weird single elimination format for the first 2 rounds that meant teams who had to travel all the way from Australia could be eliminated after a single game. But when a screw up on travel restrictions meant that Australia couldn’t even attend the NA LCQ anymore, 100 Thieves Hiko had a lot to say about it.
Hiko had already spoken out about the terrible single elimination format, but when he found out Australia teams couldn’t even make the event anymore because of apparent travel restriction screw ups by Riot, he was clearly upset. While the 100 Thieves star realized that having Australia teams in any event can be a challenge, he felt like the entire LCQ disaster could have been handled much better by Riot.
Sadly, now with Australia gone, the format was changed to the double elimination format that the teams all wanted in the first place. Hopefully next year Riot and the VCT will remember these changes, and not get forced into them after a series of missteps eliminates 2 teams before they even had a chance to attend the NA LCQ.
